Tāwhiri is an award-winning charitable company that produces some of Aotearoa’s most iconic arts festivals and events including the Aotearoa New Festival of the Arts, Wellington Jazz Festival, the Lexus Song Quest in association with the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation, and other major events. Our festivals and events bring energy and creativity to Wellington, making it a place people are proud to call home — and love visiting.
Tāwhiri Warehouse is a new flexible and accessible venue in Newtown and the Tāwhiri Workshop offers bespoke set building services to the sector.
In 2024 alone over 700 artists and crew were engaged from Aotearoa and overseas. More than 500,000 people experienced our events.

The name Tāwhiri was gifted to us by Te Atiawa Taranaki Whānui in 2018. For us, the name has two meanings, firstly to welcome, as we connect artists and audiences from Aotearoa and the world through arts and culture. Secondly, to fan the flames, to support the fire of creativity to burn brightly so its warmth can be felt by many.

Tāwhiri Warehouse is where big ideas get made.
Located in the heart of Newtown, Tāwhiri Warehouse is a dynamic hub for creativity: a flexible and accessible venue for development, rehearsal and workshops. It’s available for hire now, find out more
